I’ve finished up my Vanilla socks this week so it was nice to get those off my needles and on to my feet! I’ve also made some progress with the two pairs of socks I’m working on for my partner. It really is strange how large they feel in comparison to mine – I have to keep making him try them on to double check sizing.

I seem to have stalled on my spinning so I want to try and get back to that in the next few weeks. My spinner’s ‘12 Days of Christmas’ arrived from Hilltop Cloud in this cute, hand printed bag. I’m really looking forward to getting started with this. I may even start it early as I’ll be on leave for a good chunk of December but that seems wrong somehow.

Otherwise it’s been a quiet week on the projects front. I did pick up a new book which was James Rebanks’s English Pastoral. I’ve really enjoyed his other books on shepherding in the Lake District so I’m looking forward to settling down with this one, it comes highly recommended.
Can’t wait to see your spinners 12 days of Christmas. This is the first kit I’ve seen for spinners. I don’t know why it never occurred to me that they would have kits for spinners.
Congrats on the socks! New socks are the best!

I really like HTC fibres so I can’t (and maybe won’t) wait. And yes, toasty sock are great for miserable wet days like today.

Men’s socks do seem to take forever. I am lucky though, my hubby has small feet for a man. They are only about an inch longer than mine.

I’m just astounded by how different they are. I’m sure I’ll get over it soon. Ish.

Love the red socks you are making. Do you read while knitting?? I can’t do that. I have to listen to audiobooks or podcasts.

No I’ve never mastered that although I know people who have. I’m very much an audio book with knitting.

Isn’t it cute? And all the tiny parcels are so enticing.

Maybe you could open them early as a reward for when you have finished the socks. I am quite good at resisting opening early…unless its chocolate and I’m hopeless

It would be nice to work on it over the Christmas period while I’m on leave, but I’ll try and hold out.

Congrats on your finished socks! I love the red ones too. Your book looks very interesting as I love nature books and non-fiction. Your spinning kit looks like fun in that adorable bag. Enjoy!

Thank you! I’m hoping to finish up a few more socks before the year is out. Will I manage it? Will I cast on something new instead? It could go either way.

I’ve really enjoyed these and the advent calendars in previous years. It’s nice to get a spinning surprise and it’s nice to unwind with a Christmas project.

I love the bag your spinning advent came in! It looks like it was screen printed (or maybe stamped??) by hand! The advent of the cricut and other devices have made some tremendously professional finished items by hobbyist makers; however, the appeal of print art has not lost its appeal.
I don’t generally make items for adult men either, they sometimes feel overwhelmingly large. I really like the red you are using for your current pair of socks!
