This week has still been all about the Tour for me. I finished up the first half of my lace weight yarn . It ended up 48g and 380m so I’m on target for an 800m skein at the end of things. I think this will make a heavy weight lace in the end. I’m really pleased with how this has turned out. It’s slow going because I’m focusing on consistency, but that’s ok.

I made a start on the final braid of my sweater spin. I’m not loving this spin to be honest, and it’s entirely my fault. I’ve been working on this for so long that the fibre has compacted and it’s a tough spin. I’m not even 100% sure what the fibre is any more. It’s kind of getting spun any old how now and I’m hoping it will all work out in the end.

To offset that tough spin I made these from some Fellview Fibre rolag tails. Carol at FVF very kindly sent members of her Ravelry group 50g of leftover bits from the beautiful rolags she makes to see what we would make of them during the tour. This colourway is called Mother of Pearl and I was really pleased to get these. I used the blending board to make up some rolags. I’m getting better at these but they’re still a bit uneven.

So that’s it for this week. There have been lots of potatoes from the garden and a few peas and beans. It’s getting warm out there at the moment so I’m hoping it all survives the heatwave we’re having. I do appreciate my very cool house!
Ooh that purple is pretty, quite a sheen on it, could it have bamboo or silk in the blend I wonder. Congratulations on achieving such fine spinning and being so consistent. After doing some Aran and bulky spinning I am now doing some fine spinning and it’s taking forever to fill one bobbin so I appreciate your dedication. Glad to hear your house keeps cool. Temps here aren’t looking like they’ll get too bad so far which is a relief.

I’m really not sure what the mix is. It’s something woollier than I’m used to. Zwartbles is a possibility. I know I have the packaging somewhere. I might actually have to tidy up to find it! Just a couple of miles down the road we’ve recorded the hottest ever day in Wales!

We only got to 27.5C at the house and we’ve had it 30.7 in July 2019 so it was definitely a relief we weren’t baking like the rest of the country seemed to be.

That lace grey looks beautiful either on its own or as a MC to some other color. Like the purple??? It’s beautiful.

Thank you! I’ll have a look at projects. I’ve been advised it’s a very warm blend so whole garments can be very warm. That said, I do feel the cold so maybe it’s the right blend for me.

Your yarn looks amazing! I love that color so much. Anxious to see how the rolags spin up as they are beautiful too. Try to stay cool – I know this is really unusual heat you’re having. At least we sort of expect it here in the desert southwest.

Ha, we’re rubbish here when it comes to heat, but we’re not really set up for it.

Thank you! I really do like the woman who puts the original rolags together, she has a great eye for colour.
